 Contact Manufacturer for replacement wand! January 7, 2009

I was initially disappointed with this toy because the little toys would not stay attached to the wand, well after reading another review I saw that you could contact playmate for a replacement wand to correct the problem. So I thought I would give it a try and I emailed the manufacturer through the contact page. I received an immediate response (even though it was New Year's Eve day) and was told that the hexagon tip is malfunctioning and they would send me out a wand with a new redesigned tip. I received the new wand within days and it worked! Tinkerbell and the other attachments actually sort of click into place now and don't fall off. Even though it was a bit annoying to have a defective wand, Playmate toys corrected the problem and now I think it was worth it. My daughter loves it!

My daughter was so excited to open this toy and sat patiently while it took 30 minutes to get it all unhooked from the box. It is very colorful and cute with actual areas you can pretend and play with the characters in the flower area. The BIG problem is only two of the bugs stay on the wand that makes them flutter and Tinkerbell won't even go on there. I felt so sorry for my daughter as she tried and tried to make it work and get the stupid fairy on there and it never did. Great Christmas gift--not. Grr! I hate poorly made toys because they disappoint children. Disney should be ashamed.

My daughter chose to buy this with her birthday money - she is fasincated with fairies and loves this playset. We did not have problems with the battery compartment but the hammock does not stay connected well if the set is bumped. Otherwise, all parts appear to work well. One of the butterfly wings bent a little at the bottom - I'm not sure if it was like that or if it got bent during play. The appeal of the wand that holds Tinkerbell and her friends and flutters their wings is beyond me - but my daughter and even her brothers are fascinated with it. She is happy because it is a fairy playset - she does not usually buy toys with her money but thinks this one was definitely a good purchse. I am happy because we paid about half of this list price - $35 - at a Walmart store. I would not have let her spend $70 on this set and it would not have been worth that much. Tinkerbell is about the size of a Polly Pocket - I am sure she will combine a few Polly dolls with this playset once it is moved upsatirs. For now, it is set up in the living room and is being played with throughout the day. Because the wings are apparently easy to bend, this would not be a good toy for younger children or kids who are hard on toys. We are happy and love this set.

We got this cute playset as a gift for our twins along with the new Tinkerbell movie and, although the movie was great, I'm terribly dissapointed with the toy.
(1) The screw holding the battery cover on the wand was so tight we had to drill it out just to get the batteries in it so that it would work.
(2) The animals and fairy do not stay on the wand when being "flown" around. Poor engineering!
(3) The fairy's wing was cracked when we opened the package and soon after it snapped off
(4) The pieces that hang do not fit together well
Overall this set had all the right ideas and could be really great but the poor manufacturing and engineering has ruined it.
Don't waste your money on this one.
